The Xawery Wolski Art Foundation

An encounter of art, heritage, and community.

This is my Dańków Project, my homage to those who made the history of this place. Through it, I look to close up this cycle and leave a legacy for the generations to come.

The Dańków Project began when I decided to ship my sculptures from Mexico to Poland, with the purpose to create an Art Foundation for international artists, a sculpture garden and a gallery with my art.

Dańków, a small village in the heart of Mazovia region was home of my ancestors for four generations. They dedicated their lives to science and nature. They practiced natural genetics in order to breed new species of beets, oats and rye. Their successful research was interrupted by the second world war. The estate was confiscated by the communist regime which was installed in Poland.

When the Berlin wall was torn down and the whole political system has collapsed, my father was offered to purchase the property back from the government. It was very deteriorated. He started to restore his home but passed away soon after he has accomplished. It happened in the same room in which he was born. The history drew the circle.

After his death the estate stayed in abandon for years until I have finally decided to move back. I restored most all buildings: the old family house, the laboratory, the granary, several warehouses turning them into art galleries. In the park I have located some of my monumental sculptures that I have made during four decades. The Infinity Chain series in this context took on an additional meaning of genetics and family union that continuous through generations.
